I’m not sure which parts of the last couple of months will stand out in my mind decades from now, but I hope these special times with family will be proven unforgettable.
It has been good.
And it’s been hard. We have had our share of tears and disappointments and worries and frustrations. We’ve seen the ugly in one another.
But God.
I love how He works in us and how this time has compelled me to lean into Him a little (or a lot) more, to experience what it’s like to breathe again, and to learn to listen longer and love deeper.
I hope that our children will remember the grace and the hope and the joy that broke through the darkness and uncertainty.
Each of us got to choose a theme, plan it out, and put it into action for some pretty amazing Family Fun Nights. It was so fun to see the incredible thought, creativity, and joy that was displayed.
GUESS WHO? – planned by Alyssa
What a fun night! We enjoyed making characters out of pancakes, racing to dress up as characters, playing a giant game of Guess Who, and ending the night with Pictionary Air.
BOWLING – planned by Kayla
Such a fun night of bowling! Great decorations, yummy food (“bowling” pizza & wings), silly bowling shoes, creative prizes, and a fun game of bowling!
FAMILY MATTERS – planned by Ariya
It was lots of fun eating a yummy meal (pasta bake) together and then acting out a “Family Matters” episode. Everyone found fun costumes. Ariya worked hard on the decorations too.
SLUMBERPARTY – planned by Annabella
What a fun night! The monkey bread was delicious. And Bella had lots of fun things – forts out of pillows, a family pillow fight, glow-sticks, catching marshmallows with your mouth, a movie, & ice-cream. 🙂
FOOTBALL (Vikings) – planned by Isaiah
SKOL! What a fun evening of football!! Even though the “Bears” won, it was great to play on the field Isaiah prepared in our front yard. We had yummy concession style food – hotdogs, brats, nachos, giant pretzels, and a chocolate stadium cake (made with the help from some incredible sisters). He even had awards for the winners and most valuable players.
CAMPOUT – planned by Dad
It was lots of fun to camp out together. Cooking over the fire, playing Bocce ball, sleeping in the tent in our backyard, and having breakfast around the campfire in the morning were sweet memories.
MINUTE-TO-WIN-IT – planned by Elliana
Elliana planned everything so well!! The potpie was yummy, the different “Minute-to-Win-It” games were fun, and the brownies were delicious!
MASQUERADE MYSTERY – planned by Mom
Our mystery night began with making masquerade masks. Then, we enjoyed a mystery meal together where everyone ordered without really knowing what they would be getting. While waiting for each course, we attempted to solve some brain teaser mysteries. After dessert, we headed outside with our cameras for a photo (quarantine) scavenger hunt!
Oh, I love this family! ❤
